Advanced Steel Repair is a one-day training course designed to enable your technicians to safely repair non-structural areas of steel using modern tooling and advanced repair techniques.

Following training, technicians will be able to carry out advanced steel repairs and determine which method is most suitable for each type of repair and panel.

Who is the Course Aimed at?

Advanced Steel Repair is aimed at experienced panel technicians looking for a greater understanding of modern repair techniques and to improve their current skill sets. Technicians should have at least two years' panel experience or have attended our Steel Repair Training course (CT-003) within the previous 12 months.

Course Content - The following key technical aspects will be covered:

• Safety guidelines – When is it safe to repair or replace?
• Introduction to the variety of different metals on modern vehicles
• Damage assessment – How to identify what is repairable and which method is most suitable
• Introduction to the variety of available repair options – e.g. pin pulling, carbon shrinking, induction
• Understanding the importance of panel thickness in the repair process
• Identifying the correct substrate
• Improved repair quality and efficiency achieved by utilising the correct technique and tooling selection
• How to reduce paint removal and material usage

Competency - The Technician will:

• Know when it's safe and profitable to repair
• The different types of advanced repair methods available – Advanced Pin Pulling settings and application, carbon shrinking, Induction
• Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the repair options available and the benefits of each
• Which method to use to efficiently reduce the area of damage
• Have a broader understanding of the material cost benefits to the business and the environment
