Once the organisation has received the QES, they can declare themselves 'carbon-neutral in accordance with PAS2060'. If anyone were to challenge the organisations status as carbon-neutral, it's a legal requirement to provide a copy of the QES.
Achieving carbon neutrality is just the first step in what should become a long-term journey to reduce emissions as far as possible – to get to net-zero where only residual emissions are offset.
Organisations across all sectors of the economy want to engage in carbon reporting and emissions reductions. At ECA we've had interest in PAS2060 and carbon reporting from a variety of sectors – including landscaping, construction, broadcasting, manufacturing, and distribution. We know clients in the bodyshop sector that have won business based on their environmental credentials and status as carbon-neutral.
The first stage of the process is to produce the carbon footprint.
To achieve the PAS year-on-year, the subject of the PAS must achieve an emission's reduction.
To become carbon-neutral in accordance with PAS2060, the carbon footprint must be offset annually.
Finally, we produce your Qualifying Explanatory Statement (QES).
