Our network management team is in regular contact with all repairers who are all aware of the need to communicate any potential signs of the virus straight away.

Contingency measures in place for potential loss of suppliers and staff include:

  • Re-purposing multi-skilled staff to critical functions
  • Inform clients and staff immediately virus becomes apparent and when confirmed
  • Alternative repairers to be used away from repairer site where any case is confirmed
  • Closure of office in extreme circumstances and moving activity to second site
  • Contractual sick pay made clear to all employees in advance
  • Update interested parties of status on a daily basis

Preventative measures and other considerations:

  • Daily monitoring of the advice and guidance issues by the Department of Health and Social Care, Public Health England and the World Health Organisation
  • Daily monitoring of reported cases and infection rates
  • Monitoring of Foreign & Commonwealth Office travel advice
  • Reducing any non-essential travel between office locations
  • Internal monitoring of absence levels
  • Communications to provide updates to our clients, colleagues and suppliers
  • Standard cold and flu prevention hygiene practices apply:
  • (regularly washing hands, using tissues and binning, avoiding contact if unwell, etc)
  • Communication of World Health Organisation and UK Chief Medical Officer guidance:
  • (via email, videos, posters, etc.)
  • Prevent discriminatory behaviour towards Chinese people or people mistaken as such
  • Utilise remote communication, such as phone, email and video conferencing
  • Assess whether working environment of high risk individuals presents risk of infection
  • Identify locations and services of NHS coronavirus checks (home and drive through)
  • Stakeholders who refuse to co-operate or reckless with health disciplined / suspended
  • Cancellation of all planned business and holiday travel to affected areas
  • Understanding symptoms and self-isolation for recommended period if symptoms occur
  • Self-quarantine if returning from affected area even if no signs of any symptoms
  • Refer to NHS 111 website - Only contact NHS 111 if symptoms get worse
  • Do not visit a doctor's surgery or accident and emergency if symptoms apparent
  • Seek coronavirus test as soon as possible to confirm ability to return to work
  • Ban work related travel and encourage reduction in general travel and contact
  • Impose ban on all client, customer and supplier visits, meetings and appointments
  • Affected repairers to be switched off until all clear confirmed – use alternative repairers
  • Customer's vehicles that are work in progress to be kept in courtesy cars until resolved
  • Self-isolate, with people working from home via internet services as much as possible
  • Appropriate warning / information notices to be placed in windows facing site entrance
  • Consider staff needing to take time off to care for dependents if outbreak spreads widely
  • To mitigate impact during / after the event we are asking businesses to plan holiday now

When we reduce our day-to-day contact with other people, we will reduce the spread of the infection.

That is why the government is now (23 March 2020) introducing three new measures.

  1. Requiring people to stay at home, except for very limited purposes

  2. Closing non-essential shops and community spaces

  3. Stopping all gatherings of more than two people in public

Every citizen must comply with these new measures. The relevant authorities, including the police, will be given the powers to enforce them – including through fines and dispersing gatherings.

These measures are effective immediately. The Government will look again at these measures in three weeks, and relax them if the evidence shows this is possible.
